Shaw's adaptation of the the story of Galatea and Pygamlion has been the basis for a great many stories - the musical My Fair Lady, movies such as She's All That and episodes of popular TV shows like Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, the Simpsons and Family Guy. His story line of a person choosing to change in order to be accepted by a "better" level of society and the unforeseen circumstances has remained popular for almost a century and still seems very relevant.
1. Why does this story continue to appeal to so many people?
2. Should this story have a happy ending? Explain how you see the story ending and WHY you thik it should end this way.
3. Is this story realistic? Can people truly "change" or do our personalities and behaviors remain pretty much the same throughout our lives, no mater how much we may look, speak or act differently?

1) Because in everyday life people still have the problem of fitting in to the "normal" society. And problems are interesting for people to watch and learn about.
ReplyDelete3)I think we can never truely change no matter what because certain things in people are unchangeable like humor and shyness, there are ways around things but they are always there.

1.) people still do that like all the time
ReplyDeletewhich is why they are still popular
3.)umm..it depends on the person i think like they can if they want to but most of the time people who are stupid, slutty, ect. don't change no matter wat
1. The idea of someone being able to change everything about themselves is appealing because sometimes individuals wish that they were different then what they were. Sometimes people wish to change who they are, what they wear, what social class they're in, change their birth. We take interest in this kind of story because we sometimes wish to be better then ourselves even though the changes we wish for would be drastic
ReplyDelete3. It depends on the person, but personal i think that it would be very difficult to change a person completely, to destroy who they are by changing the way they act, look and speak would not be enough.
1. I think this apeals to so many people because its not fiction but it seems impossible.
ReplyDelete2. I think this story will have a less happy ending. Eliza grew up in poverty and it would be virtualy impossible to flush it out of her. The profesor isnt going to change at all either.
3.I think that our minds are constintly adapting. As we hang out with different types of people in different envirnments through time it becomes hard not to.
1. i think that alot of people today still want to be better so in this way the basice of the story apples to them and many people like to relate to thing in life.
ReplyDelete2.i think yes i think that liza and higgins should get married and then liza and controle his wild ways and make him more of a gentalmen.
3.i dont think that everyone can change even if your educade you will be the same girl who grow up poor so in the end i dont think you can change you can put on a mask to people but you will still be you when you tke it off.
2. happy ending are NOT real they have never happened in real life there is just no such thing,
ReplyDeleteevery one want there life to end like a movie well there is a resion why its in a movie.
but maybe the happy ending is the only thing keeping people from losing hope in them self and every thing around them.
people can NOT change
you can move that person from there surrounding and change what they see but you can never change what they bleaved at first

1)It continues to appeal to so many people because it is a common story and maybe not in the same ways but still... people trying to fit in so they change who they are to fit in
ReplyDelete3)I don't think people ever really change I think that you are who you are and you might be able to put an act on, but that is technically not changing

1. now a days alot of people still act like that.
ReplyDelete2. Yes! because if eliza decides to marry higgins after all, she can straighten him up and change him into a better man.
1. in different ways this story is still being told, weather it be by two people that seem to hate each other but in reality liking one another, to just wanting to fit in with the “popular” crowd, you still can see this in schools, even our school.
ReplyDelete3. I think given the chase and the person wanting it too that yes people have the capability of changing, just look at people after having a heart attack or being in a car crash, they start thinking in a different way, putting things in perspective and seeing what is really important in life
1.It gives people hope that they can change.
ReplyDelete2.Yes it should cause then it would have more of an effect.
3.Yes this story is realistic cause through out a person life they change with time.
1. This story appeals to so many people because it's like a fantasy for many.
ReplyDelete2. The story might be a little unhappy because Eliza really has nowhere else to go. I see the story ending with a confused Eliza wondering what her future will be.
3. The story is pretty realistic in that you can pretend to be what you aren't but you can never truely change into something "better"
1) because it is a good lesent it this story dont change because of a beat or somthing change because u wont to.
ReplyDelete2)yes this story should have a happy ending.
3)yes it is, and yes people can change through out there life they just have to look at who they are and if they dont like it they can try to change!
